A Legend with the DrumsPlaying the Drums
Drums first appeared as far back as 6000 BC. Mesopotamian excavations unearthed small cylindrical drums dated 3000 BC. Several wall markings found in caves show drums used in various aspects of societal life. Drums have always been used for more4 than merely creating music.
Mitch Mitchell, the one behind the drums during the “Jimi Hendrix Experience”, is one of the greatest drummers in 1960 and of the legendary drummers of all time. If you ask anyone who plays behind the drums, they would certainly know of Mitch Mitchell. The rock world is said to be often not kind to its people, namely the people behind the music. So, Mitch Mitchell who was still living not until 2008 was treated as a living legend.
Mitchell was at first a child actor and was starring in television shows even when he hasn’t even reached his teen years and by the early 1960’s, that’s when he got interested with the drums. His concentration with it starting then was unparalleled and then he set out to different bands to start of his career. After a few years, he found his way to the Jimi Hendrix experience through the invitation of Chaos Chandler and there he beat young talented people with his own style in drums. Fortunately also, he got in with a tossed coin that favored him. Mitch Mitchell, with the drums is not just about the beat especially Jimi Hendrix being his guitarist, it was about the rhythm, pattern and flexibility he had even with the unpredictability Hendrix possessed. Though Hendrix died in an early year, Mitchell still continued tours and then died on 2008. Today, drums are often treated as a support to the leading guitarist, but at the time the legends were playing, drummers with their stick and drums were the life and the beat of Music.
